A Picture Is Worth 1,000 Words

I think spheres are the wrong shape to use, because showing things that have 3D volume never has as much impact as the numbers truly represent.

But still, its better than nothing. Putting it in terms of time is really a good way to go. Instead of dollars, lets use seconds

500 Billion seconds = 5,787,037 days (5.7 million days) = 15,854 Years
1.27 Trillion seconds = 14,699,074 days (14.7 million days) = 40,271 Years

Watching A Nation Die

Everything BHO does works against everything I believe is logical and sane.

Helping unions get stronger moves America backwards.

This protectionist crap is going to ruin us. Oh well, we'll have 15%+ unemployment by 2012 if this kind of stuff keeps happening.

Overestimating Pocket Depth

I've come to realize that when businesses are involved, heck and governments too, everyone thinks those entities have deep pockets. In reality businesses and governments don't have as much money as everyone thinks.

Case in point.

I love how the answer is "just raise prices", as if the consumers' pockets are deep also.

Idiots.

Pro-Life Super Bowl Ad Rejected

Bush Shoe Thrower Gets A Monument

I have to admit, this is pretty funny.

Not That This Is Important Or Anything

Or at all newsworthy, but Iraq is having early voting today.
I know, yawn... zzzzzzzz...
It's a good thing the media isn't making a big deal out of this.
Progress in Iraq is just so tedious

Awe, How Cute!

Obama and Ahmadinejad are penpals.

Um, Yeah, This Rules.

For Your Superbowl Weekend Cheer...

Hey MC, remember the other day when you said that bacon is so tasty even a bacon wrapped cheesecake sounded good?

That's just nasty, but I'd eat it. :)

Out Of The Frying Pan And Into The Fire

Bart Simpson Is A Scientologist

"Nancy Cartwright -- voice of Bart and a multi-million dollar donor to Scientology -- has recorded a Scientology robocall in which she uses her famous character's name and voice to push an upcoming L. Ron Hubbard hoedown in L.A.We called the phone number for the event that Nancy gives out, and the person who answered was surprised a non-Scientologist got the message -- thanks, YouTube." I am dedicating this post to Ryan in China

Obama The Curmudgeon

Back in my day, I walked to school 7 miles both ways, uphill, barefoot and yada yada yada.
I actually agree with him on this one.
Portland has already had a few snow days since I've been here and it's a laugher. Most of the time the snow is melted shortly after it falls.
But hey, my roommate laughs his way all to the couch, because his office honors the same snow days the schools do.

Like The Auto Industry Doesn't Have Enough Problems Already

Obam began reversing the climate policies of the Bush administration clearing the way for new rules to force auto makers to produce more fuel-efficient and less polluting cars.

Google Does Not Accept "Googlebombs" For Obama

Remember a few years back when it was discovered that if you wrote keywords like "failure" or what have you in google search and then clicked "feelin lucky", Bush's presidential page came up? Well now that Obama is on the presidential page, Google has now decided to crack down on this problem.

UPDATE: Obama may put a halt to the European missile shield. And the Russians are pleased as punch. One of the reasons for missile shield cited by Bush Admin was to protect Europe from a Middle East attack. Russia said it was to threatin Moscow. What do you think?

Great Editorial From WSJ.

The last line is the most important. It is really interesting how Obama and the rest of the Dems are trying so hard to get the Republicans to sign off on this stimulus package when they will run it through regardless and without compromise. I'm glad the right isn't biting. Sadly, the public will only perceive them as being stubborn stick-in-the-muds being petty over losing the election. Hopefully, down the line, people will see this for what it really is. And hopefully it won't be too late to do something about it.

Obama's First Interview As President

Is with Al-Arabiya
He is our President and he does represent this county and so I thought it was important to post. Nothing to revealing. More of a "Hi how are you. My name is Barack Obama and I want a clean slate" type interview.

The only part that made me sick was when he compared muslim extremists to other religious extremists.
Sorry, but islamofascists have carried out 12,650 deadly attacks since 9-11. That's a record to be proud of. I don't care how many times liberals want to bring up Timothy McVeigh as a Christian radical, they aren't comparable.

Must Have One.

Again, Happy Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year!

Viki? Alicia?
Yeah right. That's their names.

Portland Mayor Is Not Stepping Down

And the support for him is growing. Here

One joke I've heard around town is
"Portland, where an 18 year old can enjoy a Sam Adams."

Funny, just two years ago, liberals were crazy mad about toe-tapping and text messaging fiascos. Two situations where sex never even happened.
One man was forced to step down and the other will never work again.
But it wasn't enough for liberals. Those two men must pay for their crimes. I mean liberals act as if the two men involved in those two scandals raped the entire boys choir.

This Portland mayor on the other hand did sleep with an intern and that intern could have been 17 years old. And so why are they so forgiving? Funny part about it is, it's because they think they are being openminded, but it's not it at all. It's because Adams is a lousy fucking Democrat who promised them the moon and they have been standing in line to collect.
Simply put.

Dealing with emotional creatures like liberals is easy. First you have to understand them.
All this so called "bortherly love" (no pun intended) and "live and let live" spirit turns into violent rage if you put an "R" in front of the candidates name.
Word to you Republicans, they will never accept you and so you should never apologize.
But liberals do lack conviction.
If they feel like you know something they don't know they get nervous. They might be humiliated for being uninformed. That is why they travel in packs. They can't stand alone.
Stand firm, but say only enough and never too much.
Do that and they have to accept you.

Of course there is always the "I don't care, let's go drink a beer" approach. Which is actually a much smarter way to deal with them. :)

Post-Racial Society My Ass

Well, I guess there is still a reason for that song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opxuUj6vFa4

The New Huggy Feely Changey Hopey US

Lets hug and kiss with those willing to blow themselves up to kill us. In one case I know of, and there are probably others, a detainee that was released ended up going back to what he knows... Being a suicide bomber. This nut that we released blew himself up and killed 42 people.

That's justice Mr. President? Your new orders will end up killing more people. He's a Dope, not Hope.

A Post Racial Society

I'm feeling so hopey-changey now.

Guess there's no reason for this song anymore.

Since you can't understand what they're getting all uppity about, here's what they are saying:

I'm sorry
For something I didn't do
Lynched somebody
But I don't know who
You blame me for slavery
A hundred years before I was born

Guilty of being white

I'm a convict
Of a racist crime
I've only served
19 years of my time

Guilty of being white

Japanese Obama Action Figure

First Day Of His Presidency...

and I am already tired of his act.
Obama went to 10 inaugural balls last night.
but the one he didn't have time for was probably the most important one.
The inaugural ball honoring the people who've actually sacrificed for our country and democracy.

"According to TSO who was at the “Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball”, this newly sworn-in President for the first time in 56 years blew off the ball (that’s 14 Inaugurations)."

This is going to be a long 4 years.

Hmm..

Hopey Changey, eh?

I must say that every once in a long while John Stewart actually amuses me.

Lots Of Talk Today.

As expected, the mailing lists at my work are blowing up about the inauguration of our new President. There is way too much to post here but I thought I would throw you a few of my favorites so far. First, from someone who will probably end up fired:

"There aren't that many people losing their homes, and of those that are 99% of them shouldn't have been in those homes to begin with. How it got to that point is a different topic.
Unemployment is single digits, unlike the recession in the 70's where it reached 14%. Interest rates are under 6%, unlike the recession in the 70's and early 80's where home mortgages hit 25% interest rates.

This President won't have to bring anyone together since he has a simple majority in both houses. And to hear that we need to put aside our differences and pull together to make America great once again makes me sick. The people calling for this "unity" are the same people who have been spewing vitriol for the last 8 years. Now all of a sudden they want unity? Get real.

I don’t have anything against Obama other than his ideology; Marxism is evil, pure and simple."

And the obvious rebuttal:

"Give a MARXIST the benefit of the doubt!!!? NEVER! He’s EVIL, pure EVIL I TELL YOU!

;-)"

Notice how there is no challenge to the Marxist labelling? That's because it is not a label, it is a badge. And the line you will be hearing for the next eight years:

"I’m rooting for Obama but Bush left him a pretty big mess. It might take 8 years just to get back to normal. Also, it all depends on how influential he can be with the senate and house."

Great stuff. Happy Day After Obama Day!*

*Who am I kidding? From now on every day is Obama Day.

Quick Hit.

News anchor this morning referred to the White House as the Executive Mansion. That's a new one to me.

Just Thought It Was Interesting

How American Is That Car?

My Sentiments Exactly!

Well, almost exactly. Except for the whole "voting for him" thing.

The Media Has Done It Again

The John Edward's love child scandal broke on opening day of the Olympics.
Because of olympic hype, no one cared.
And now the Portland Mayor's gay teenage intern sex scandal just broke today.
On inauguration day. Again, no one will care.
Rumor has it that the Mayor's boyfriend works for the Oregonian newspaper. I don't know if that is true, but he should be thanking the Oregonian for this convenient release date. This will get 1/10 the national attention Larry Craig and company got.
Boo!

Very Interesting.

Might not be a popular opinion, but I think an overall ban on cell phone use while driving is a bitchin' idea. It'll never happen, though. Seatbelt and helmet laws are a completely different animal. Someone deciding not to wear either is really only jeopardizing their own safety. Of course, with lawyers and insurance companies, I guess there really was no choice.

Won't Go Down As The Smoothest Oath...

but oh well, no big deal. He has got to be real nervous right now and I don't blame him.

Awesome!

Can I just say how much more satisfying it is that they've gone back to calling Garotzuva by his true name and cut the bullshit with this "climate change" business? When will they upgrade it to something really scary, though, like "global burning?" Always in bold.

Oh, Slash.

The Jack Daniels is a Starbuck's latte now. There's a Blackberry clipped to the jeans, and the top hat has become an adjustable ball cap. I'm going to have to slam a bottle of Metamucil to get over this. Still rockin' though.

Seriously, it's time to get the REAL band back together and go out in a blaze of glory.

Definitely Time To Declare A Lot Of Exemptions

Kumbaya

Rick Santorum predicts an Obama/McCain Alliance and what it will look like.

"...he will not just join with Obama but lead the charge in Congress on global warming, immigration "reform," the closing of Guantanamo, federal funding for embryonic-stem-cell research, and importation of prescription drugs."

Hmmmm... Funny. Not one of those topics was ever at all responsible for my support of McCain.
If this alliance does flesh out as Santorum predicts, then "the healing of a divided country" will be the headline of many a newspapers.

"California lost a net total of 144,000 people during that period... it is the fourth consecutive year that more residents decamped from California for other states than arrived here from within the U.S."

Know Who Your Friends Are

A 47 member UN Human Rights council that neither U.S. nor Israel are apart of voted for a resolution condemning Israel for her actions. It passed 33-1 with Canada being the only no vote. European countries abstained, along with Japan and South Korea.

"The vote crystallized Canada’s emergence under Stephen Harper’s government as one of Israel’s firmest supporters."

Also, Bush honors Tony Blair, John Howard & Alvaro Uribe at the White House today.

How typical of me.

This Is Important Stuff...

This is a good start, but there needs to be some sort of racist index by which I can compare my level of tolerance with other people so that I know when I can look down my nose at them and disregard their arguments. It would also be very helpful when calling someone a Nazi, to be able to prove that they are with science.

I read this whole article pretty carefully, but I might have missed something, so if anyone can find the part where they reversed the test and gauged how black people did, please cut and paste that for me and post it in the comments. Thank you.

They will never get it, but I do think it puts this whole bailout business into perspective.
Why shouldn't they get one, or at least try to get one? Everyone else seems to.
They are both private companies not run by the government and they both provide jobs. Why not nationalize them as well? Can congress now play the moral high ground?

Merkel Is the Only European Leader To Pin Hostilities Entirely On Hamas

Has 2012 Always Been The Year Of Reckoning?

Seriously, is that just the newest "end of life as we know it" number or has it always been that? I feel like it has changed so many times over the years, but I could be wrong. It may have always been 2012.

It is armageddon week on the history channel this week and believe me, it's no coincidence they are airing end of the world type shows during the 1st week of the new year.
You know, right after everyone has just made all their new year's resolutions and are looking to a brighter and better future...Bam! We all die in 2012!

2008 Global Sea Ice Levels Equal 1979

"Sea ice is floating and, unlike the massive ice sheets anchored to bedrock in Greenland and Antarctica, doesn't affect ocean levels. However, due to its transient nature, sea ice responds much faster to changes in temperature or precipitation and is therefore a useful barometer of changing conditions."

"Earlier this year, predictions were rife that the North Pole could melt entirely in 2008. Instead, the Arctic ice saw a substantial recovery."

"Why were predictions so wrong? Researchers had expected the newer sea ice, which is thinner, to be less resilient and melt easier. Instead, the thinner ice had less snow cover to insulate it from the bitterly cold air, and therefore grew much faster than expected"

Here is the article

I Have To Be Honest...

Baby model agent sounds like a calling I may have missed out on. Not calling is bullshit, though. Being the person who gets to tell people their baby is too ugly to sell baby cloths and pacifiers and whatnot sounds like my dream job. I would go door to door to deliver that kind of news.

ATTENTION BLOGUST PARTICIPANTS

I am sorta out of ideas for the pin-ups I embed on this blog. The one I have right now is a pin-up that was pretty popular in it's day and I sorta like it, but I also think it's sorta silly. In fact, because of the new year I am thinking of going in totally different direction and not do pin-ups at all.
Maybe I can go with a spaceman styling or put up a picture of all of us or nothing at all. If you have any ideas and you want to share that would be great.
