There is no denying that Sandy Hook, Chris Dorner and this very recent Vegas shootout-cum-fiery explosion are national stories tailor-made for 24 hour mediagasms, but it seems like every single gun incident is covered ad nauseum right now even if it wouldn't normally warrant much attention outside its own community. Even the Vegas thing might not have gotten this much play if the debate on guns wasn't such a hot button issue right now. So the question is this. Is there a real uptick in gun violence, or just a significant uptick in coverage?
