The Votes Are Locked In

Hurricanes and jobs reports will not change this election.  The people have decided.  Who will win is still any one's guess, but my bet is on Romney. Now I usually land on the side of pessimist. Normally withholding such opinions for fear of jinxing the outcome, but I can't see it any other way. The idea the majority of Americans would stay the course doesn't seem to jibe with my internal worried nature that prohibits me from getting to confident.
There will be three types of voters this election. Those who vote for Romney, those who vote for Obama and those who don't vote for Obama. Everyday Romney is becoming more likable while Obama is becoming less and it's making liberals less likable as well.
Watch any liberal news channel and you'll see. Their snarky condescension that made liberals appear enlightened and conservatives bafoons has turned into panicked rage. Before they laughed behind the backs of the party who brought George Bush and now they are screaming in the face of the party that is defeating Barack Obama.  Listen to any one thing Chris Matthews has said in the last week or even Andrew Sullivan for that matter and you'll see irrationale anger followed by irrationale arguments.
When Mattews, who is floating the idea for a Garotzuva sequel, is calling people who don't believe in climate change "pigs" and Andrew Sullivan suggests that the electoral map looks like the map of the civil war (See for yourself a map side by side.) you'll notice fear is speaking, not reason.

Oh well... Not to get too far ahead.  If Obama wins, that's fine. I can handle it, but if Romney wins, Obamacare will be repealed and California will in turn craft its own healthcare mandate, but at least we'll have state's rights.

They Killed Our Imagination For Darth Vader And Obi Wan

Why not kill the rest of the characters?
Comrade has been fretting over the idea that the new Hobbit movie will ruin the Lord of the Rings for him. Can this deal between Disney/Lucasfilms do the same for Star Wars or has it already died?
I'm actually optimistic.  If this project takes off and leaves Lucas in it's dust, I'm hoping they'll scrap episodes I-III and try again.  I would say leave it alone, but I can't. It's just hanging out there, taunting me.   Those three need to be forgotten and an overwrite would be just the trick.

Sorry, Blogust

Here's the part where I ruin Firefly for Blogust.

I Have a Dream

To one day innertube down the Tigris and Euphrates
To sit in Tehran and smoke a hookah while eating chelow kebab
To go to Israel and visit all the ancient ruins
To visit Egypt and enjoy it's architecture
To visit Lebanon and sit by it's seashore
To go to Turkey and see the ancient city of Istanbul/Constantinople
And to piss on the black stone of Muhammad.

If Obama Loses It Will Be A Miracle.

See what just I did there?  I didn't title this piece "If Romney Wins..." Instead I brought attention to Obama. That's what seems to be the trend for the net of late.  No matter if it's conservative or liberal, posts rarely talk about Romney, negative or positve, but they do talk about Obama.  He is still our president and people had/have an intimate feeling for the man. There is no Romney revolution and the debate surge has stalled.  Maybe there isn't as much bad publicity for Romney as there was two months ago, but now there seems to be no publicity.  Romney gave a pretty good speech in Iowa yesterday and I doubt anyone heard it.  Obama is once again, for better or worse, our president and Romney is once again the outsider.

I'm starting to believe Romney needs a humanizing gaffe to become relevant again. Or more importantly he needs to be Daniel and the Lions den. He should boldly go on shows like MSNBC, CNN, CBS, ABC and even O'Reilly to once again make headlines.  Put faith in the idea that his candidacy and message is important and the people will see the truth. Otherwise, I fear, he will be burried by Obama's quest for "shiny objects."

He turned this election on it's head in just one 90 minute debate.  Now he needs to do it again by wrestling away the headlines.

Are They Voting For Brown Or For A Bag Of Beans?

If you were Somalian, couldn't speak the language, probably don't understand the issues of our country because you couldn't speak the language, maybe living with a large family pulling your resources together to live the dream, would you be concerned who your senator was?  I really doubt it.  I think these people were bribed.

Yes, the Death Penalty Is A Good Thing

Here
I suppose one could say the death penalty is pointless since the woman tried to committ suicide.
But to me, the death penalty isn't so much for punishment as it is for justice.  If that woman did committ suicide the mother would gain no closure.  The killer would be a phantom.  Now, she will have a trial and hopefully die under the terms of justice.  I think it makes a big difference.

North Korean Executed By A Mortar

I think this is my all time most favorite article.  I posted it earlier on Facebook, but thought better of it and realized that's what this site is for and so I deleted it.

UPDATE: Link is fixed

Romney Endorsed By Cowardly Lion

Fuckin!g Meatloaf is hilarious. He endorsed Romney last night and gave this crazy rambling speech that will have you in stitches.

“There has storm clouds come over the United States,” Meat Loaf said, verbatim, according to the Washington Post. “There is thunderstorms over Europe. There are hail storms — and I mean major hail storms — in the Middle East.  There are storms brewing through China, through Asia, through everywhere, and there’s only one man that on the other night when President Barack Obama, God bless him, said to Mitt Romney, ‘The Cold War is over.’”
Meat Loaf, still thinking that the Cold War is going on, continued: “I have never heard such a thing in my life. The man needs to understand Putin and Russia. So I want you to know that there is one man who will stand tall in this country and fight the storm and bring the United States back to what it should be — Gov. Mitt Romney!”

Now check out this video of him singing America the Beautiful. Again hilarious!

Enjoy!

When All Is Said and Done

Obama's legacy will be summed up in one simple phrase. "He was our first black president."

The New Single Issue Voter: Pot Heads

If you read Zombie you will see this new voter on the rise.  Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, is not alone.

I think his hypothetical is a bit childish, but it is also a bit telling.  His main focus is a CEO killing a man in order to achieve success.  A common theme amongst any liberal and especially, I suspect, for the creator of Dilbert. His second villian however is an admission of guilt.  The president isn't the villian like he implies, but the Obama voter himself is.  Voters will vote for their man no matter how evil they are is his accusation.  Does anyone really believe that? Does he really believe his own hypothetical, or has he created a straw man in order to justify his own "betrayal" to the liberal cause?  I have my opinions of Obama, and liberals, but I can't believe they would still vote for a man accused of murder.

If Scott Adams has become a single issue voter then he should wear it proudly and not create some silly hypothetical that is designed to chastise others in order to help him feel good about his political switch.

But hold on.  I think there is a bigger truth going on. A truth he wont admit out loud.  A phenomenon that is sweeping the entire country.  Scott Adams doesn't like Obama.  He doesn't like him personally.  Marijuana is his excuse.

2nd Sleep

This one's for Blogust.  You might know this already, but it seems that being awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night was normal for humanity for much of history.  If it happens to you, don't worry about it, it might be best.

The Fat Lady Sings For Obama

It's 1:30am and I can't sleep. No reason for it really, since it's pretty standard for me as of late and so I'll take this time to talk about the debate and what just happened.
What an upsetting event.  The first hour and ten minutes were pretty boring.  A lot of back and forth and blah blah blah. I had no emotional pull one way or another on the answers given by either candidate. Sure I was irritated by some of the questions being asked such as "how are you different from Bush" but I thought Romney handled them all fairly well and without mistakes... that is until the real question came up.

Benghazi.

What a fucking disaster.  Romney was so weak in his answer it felt as if he didn't prepare for it at all.  What is even more upsetting for me is that even though Fat Ass came to Obama's aid by suggesting O has always called the attack an act of terror when we all know he was selling the attack as a spontaneous demonstration over a youtube video (since he said as much well over a bazillion times), it still falls on Romney.  Romney needed to explain that a spontaneous demonstration and a coordinated attack are two very different things. That he was right to come out and denounce it so quickly. He needed to show that despite what Obama says, President O was more than willing to jump to the wrong conclusions. Romney needed to explain that he was right to say that OBL, although a good win, is just a piece of the whole mess. Most importantly, at least for me, he needed to explain how Benghazi is apart of the whole Syria, Egypt, Iran and Iraq crap cake that so many viewers have forgotten. Why? because the American people need to know who we are facing.  These people are butchers and Obama's policy on terror is dangerous. I really hope he takes his opportunity in the third debate to do just that.

There is no point complaining about the questions that were asked, or the interruptions by the moderator, or the unfair amount of time given to Obama to make his argument, or the fact that bitch face threw O a life line, or how all are our moderators go by the names of Lehrer of PBS, Raddatz of ABC and friend of Obamas, Crowley of CNN and for the next debate Schieffer of CBS.  That is all to be expected and it will never change. Those discrepancies exemplify the fight between group think and individualism for me. Romney has to be that much stronger and he should have pounced on Benghazi and yet he was sloppy.  If we lose this thing, I will point to that moment.

I Love Playing This Song While Drinking My Face Off

Here is a parody. Not great, but at least it's Bowie and not the other bullshit that conservatives come up with. I love the Republican party, but man are they square.

It's The First Of The Month

I just signed up for unemployment. Ya know, just doing my part to keep unemployment numbers up for Romney.... I mean Obama.

What Romney's Debate Strategy Should Be From Now On

Benghazi.
There. That's all.
If Romney again corrects the record like he did in the first debate Obama is done for.

No Double Standard Here

Wow...

"Crowley is the first woman in 20 years to moderate a presidential debate. Last week, ABC News' Martha Raddatz was praised by critics for her moderation of the vice presidential debate. PBS' Jim Lehrer, who moderated the first presidential debate of 2012, was widely criticized for losing control and allowing both candidates—Romney in particular—to "steamroll" him."

So when you let a Democrat act like an asshole, you are a great moderator.  But when you let  a Republican ask to defend his position, you suck as a moderator.

More here.

I Love Bible Verses

Proverbs 29:9
When a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man, The foolish man either rages or laughs, and there is no rest.

Something a Little Different

Man mistakenly receives check for half a billion dollars and reports it. I love when the news praises people for not going out and spending a whole bunch of money they received through a computer glitch. It's as if they think this person is some sort of hero. Um, if you spend a bunch of money that isn't yours, you are breaking the law. If you don't report that you received half a billion dollars that you shouldn't have gotten, then you are a retard. This is not heroic, this is common sense.

That's a Bunch Of Malarkey!

My keen ally, MC, pointed that word out during the debate, but I didn't give it much thought. Apperently he knows shit from shinola better than I do.  That word is ablazed on the internet world.

Fuck it, though! I can gloat on this part. Despite my previous post, Ryan won that debate. Unless you listened to it on radio. If you watched it on T.V..... It was all "Old Man Mr. Interrupter" who smiled through his fucking dentures and forced Ryan to stop what he was saying in order to answer some fucking question that was akin to what a homeless man might ask of you if  you were unfortunate enough to be sitting next to him during a smoke break.  Still, Joe had Ryan on foriegn affairs and Ryan had Joe on domestic, but did you see the demeanor? Oh my God! It was crazy uncle Joe versus... versus... Steady Eddie.  Steady Eddie Munster.
 With his Wolfman!
I knew that gif I posted earlier in the blog would come in handy again sooner or later.

Ryan should be proud.  He held his own.  We are another marker down to victory.

Mark Hamill Confesses

"I've smoked too much Bantha poodoo."
Ok, he doesn't say that, but I do.
I mean if you liken Obama to Obi-wan you've lost your nut.

Wait a Minute!

Are you trying to tell me women aren't going to love this guy?

Who Is Paul Ryan?

If Obama is the cool clueless older brother who gets you into trouble,
and Romney is the uncool sobering Dad who gets you out of trouble,
and Biden is the crazy uncle who is only fun for a family laugh,
then who is Paul Ryan?
We'll see after tonight.

My Prediction For Tonight's Debate

Tonights debate is not going to be like it was last week. It wont be a win for our guy. The most we can hope for on this one is a tie.
Here's why
Biden wants this one.  He wants it bad. When his time is done as VP, Biden plans to run for president and he knows, like all the rest of us, that his time could be as early as 2016. Obama's heart is not in the game anymore, but Biden's is and I don't underestimate the power of desire.
Biden is a believer and more importantly a believer in the Democrat party.   Unlike Obama he is a true blue Democrat. O is a progressive, which in my mind means hater.  O has no respect for Romney, but he does have disdain (maybe not for Romney personally, but for people like him) as a result he chose to ignore his would be challenger rather than prepare for him. (Not to mention it's becoming abundantly clear O has no material to speak of and no ideas and so preparation was probably useless)  Biden will not make the same mistake. He believes in the cause, his career, his party and mostly his reputation as Good Ol Uncle Joe who can get tough when he has to... Just ask Bork.
Lastly, he's done this before. Ryan has not, at least not like Biden. He can handle the pressure and move on from his mistakes, which he has made a lot of over his career.  I'm not so sure how Ryan will respond when he gets into a sticky situation during this debate.  Will he lose his cool?
What we have going for us in this race tonight is talent and message.  Ryan has the talent and the message down pat, but is not an experienced debater. I'm not going to spend tonight's debate waiting for a gaffe from Biden, but I will spend it expecting Ryan's message to get out.  If he is calm I think he will do that. This President is the worst.  I mean the worst ever!  I'm not so sure if he is actually talented, or intelligent or even kind hearted anymore, but he needs to go.  I suspect Romney will have to do almost all the heavy lifting.

Since Big Bird Is The Topic Of Choice

I'll play along.

It Looks Like MC Was Right...

...to presume it was Romney's advisor's fault for his lack luster september. A september that nearly gave me a coronary.
The article does credit Steven's as an expert in debating and T.V. ads and after Oct. 3rd, I couldn't agree more.
Behind every great man is a great woman.  If Romney wins this thing, they should build a statue of her.

The President Has Relegated Himself to Class Clown

Umm...

This is sort of how I remember the debate going, so I don't know exactly what the joke is. Romney's alter ego is a cross between Ronald Reagan and Sid Vicious? I'll take it.

AP Published This Photo

and I for one am glad they did.  Not because it is showing media bias by putting him in a foolish light, but because it's classic.  If I were him I'd be proud just to be apart of it.

Ah, the Tolerant Left

We could learn so much from them!

I Have Nothing To Write...

...I just like this quote.
"Barack Obama, knight of the peevish countenance, illustrated William F. Buckley’s axiom that liberals who celebrate tolerance of other views always seem amazed that there are other views." - George Will

This one is not too bad either
"One of the most wonderful things which will come with a Romney presidency is that Romney will finally, once again, separate Church and State. The president, finally, will just be a man. Not a perfect man. Not a prefigurement of Jesus. Not a prophet and not a savoir." - Ace

Mr. Mojo Risin

Does Romney appear Reaganesque?

Heritage Foundation Never Lets You Down

All too often conservative videos lack punch. They are usually cheesy, boring and sort of amatuerish, really. But not this!

No One Thing Matters

But as a whole it all matters.
Watching the news one would think that nothing affected the outcome of an election.  Before Ryan was chosen as Romney's running mate we were told that the VP pick didn't really affect election results, but only moved poll numbers for brief time before going back to how they origninally were.  When the Republican and Democrat conventions came through town, we were once again reminded that Conventions were no longer relevant. That they're importance resided only in that they helped whip up the base, but no more than that. Now after the 1st debate we are yet again told that the debate didn't matter and wont change how people will vote.  The VP debate will do even less.  If these statements are in fact true then why is Biden taking 6 days off to practice? Maybe none of these one things matter on their own, but when you put them all together, when everything is added up, well then we'll have a pretty good idea of what to expect in November.
