Here We Go.

The title of the article is kind of wordy. How about simply, "Christians Are Stupid." Ugh, the are so many mitigating circumstances that lead to poll results like this and the only one they even bother to point out is how much more educated people who don't believe in God are. Also, the reasoning that these people know more because they ultimately turned their back on the church sounds a lot like theory. Here's my theory: Most Christians are pretty reasonable regarding their faith and likely don't take the Bible or it's teaching too literally, whereas people who are agnostic or atheist tend to take the Bible and Christianity at their literal worst, which is likely what this poll was looking for.

to me this article is like saying people with eating disorders know more about the dangers of food.

That's a really good way of putting it.

Not entirely surprising if only because I think most agnostic/atheists are very passionate about disproving theology and spend what some would consider an inordinate amount of time investigating. Whereas I'd say the average person of faith merely accepts what is ususally an upbringing. I don't think it means that atheists are smarter than perople of faith but they do attempt to make that connection, wrongly.

Which is kind of the same thing Blogust said, which is kind of the point I was trying to make to begin with.

Oddly enough, I've read the bible and I didn't find anything in there that was scary. It's a philosophy in order to find truth and to improve one's life through life lesson. To learn how to be selfless, responsible, loyal and loving. It's sorta like a job in a way. It takes time and effort to be any one of those things and I think what atheists and agnostics fear is the dedication of it all and so they find fault in it in order to absolve themselves of the guilt. Or maybe they are right and religion is just a bunch of jibberish and the more we know about it the more we'll realize it too. Wow! How's that for being openminded

I've written multiple responses to this and deleted each one because they were long. Suffice it to say we're all on the same page.
