That's my town! I can see no downside to this at all. The cost of the beaurocracy needed to put this program into motion. The cost of enforcement. The rise in feral cats because people send them out the door as soon as they realize they can't afford registration. Guess they'll have no choice but to add an additional cat tax too.
What I worry about most, though, is that my roommate and I have a tank with at least 30 fish in it. I can only imagine how much its gonna cost when the city makes us license them. And getting them the proper vaccinations is going to be a bitch too. and don't doubt for a moment that there'll be a flushing fee.
