God Help Us All

San Diego appears to be vying for the honor of being home to the Statue of Responsibility. That is not a joke. They are building a 300 foot statue of two clasping hands entitled the Statue of Responsibility, envisioned as a sister statue to the Statue of Liberty. This idea apparently stems from the words of World War II era psychiatrist [Ugh.] Victor Frankl, who in 1946 wrote, "For freedom to endure, liberty must be joined with responsibility,” which is exactly the sort of platitude people cite before they attempt to take away your freedom.

There is no way that this statue doesn't end up in Frisco, where hopefully it will fall on the Golden Gate Bridge and somehow cause the entire city to burst into flames. Sorry if you live there. Sorry in so many ways.

I need to read more about this statue's purpose. I'm totally confused right now.

It just seems completely dumb.
