Yesterday, Martin Luther King Day, Hilary Clinton compared the House of Representatives to a plantation. I really really don't even know what to say about this. This is the most blatant use of slander for political gain I think I have ever heard of. Who are her advisors? Kanye West? Green Day? I am utterly floored by the irresponsibility of this woman who hopes to one day be the leader of this great nation. Inexcusable and sickening to say the least.

pretty stupid comment from the worlds smartest woman.
Referring to the way the Republican-led House of Representatives is run by the White House like a plantation means that it is run like a business which must, regardless of ethical considerations, continue to profit no matter whose rights are infringed upon. -SD
I'd say you make a valid argument if I thought that was what she intended to convey, anonymous. I do not believe, however, that that was the point she was trying to make, given the audience she was addressing, and the day on which they were addressed.
Lord Kingly,
From one person of royalty to another, I do think the anonymous comment has more validity than you give it. I mean, if Hillary really used the plantation reference to connect with her audience, and if she really wanted to slander, she obviously would have followed it up with some beat box-ing follwed by moving her fist in the air while she barked like a dog.
Without the followup gestures, I do think she obviously used such an oft referred to example of a plantation to mean a business. I mean please, this is the 21st century, I hear that term all the time! I just heard the word plantation about 3 times last month, come to think of it. Once in reference to ice cream, then another in reference to the Russian space program, and finally it was used in reference to magnetic resonance imaging.
See, it has a lot of uses. Give ol' Hillary a break.
Beat-boxing? Barking like a dog? Hmmm... Lets put it this way. Hillary is a public figure and voters don't enjoy pandering.
BaronVonMike asked me to post this link. So here it is. http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110007854
Yes Blogust, I was being sarcastic.
I thought you knew me better than that.
Next time I'll use the standard sarcasm HTML markers:
< sarcasm > blah blah blah < /sarcasm >
If anyone thinks the plantation comment was just used to refer to a business where the employees have no say, they are truly diluted.
Hmm, sarcasm? Never heard of it. Sounds like fun, though. I think I'll give it a shot sometime...on the plantation.
I apologize because I was unclear in my previous comment. Let’s go over it again shall we? A plantation with slave labor is a business (farming) that is run without any regard for ethics. Baronvonmike might sarcastically disagree with this point about whether or not the old southern plantations were ethical or not, but I insist that a plantation like this is inherently unethical because people have a right to freedom, and African-Americans are obviously (baronvonmike might disagree?) people. OK. *big leap here get ready* Like these plantations, our Republican-led House of Representatives is also a business (politics) that is run without any regard for ethics. (This refers to pork-barrel spending, charges of bribery and gerrymandering.) In slamming our next commander-in-chief are you saying that crooked horse-trading politicians are ethical role models?
A note to baronvonmike on this comment: I know it may be difficult for you to understand regarding your comment 25/1/06 4:03 PM that African-Americans are best communicated with by “beat-boxing,” fist-pumping, and barking “like a dog.” But perhaps you may better understand what I mean now by imagining the twang of my cottony voice coming from out the ragged eyeholes of my pointy pillowcase-hat, clearly over your screams, on a hellish, sexy, summer night in the South.
Feel me now baronvonmike? -SD
SD,
Thanks for proving my point. You did a good job of proving it I may add.
See, I do not think that the beat boxing and all the rest that I said is the way to talk to a black audience.
The fact that you would be insulted by such comments is good.
The fact that you are not just as insulted by Hillary's comments is sad.
Wake up and realize that my remarks are bad, along with those of Hillary's.
If you don't like what I said, then you should not like what she said.
She did not go into deep depth about the whole business = plantaion thing. Quit pretending she did and be outraged at her like you can at me.
She deserves it.
Will you be my valentine, Baronvonmike?
