Czech President, Vaclav Klaus, compared the environmentalist "idealogy" to the USSR. To be clear he wasn't comparing the act of protecting a stream or river or improving the quality of air to the USSR, but the idealogy of environmentalism itself.
Here is an interview he did a year ago. I would like to show his most recent, but I can't find it.
Now read this article which insists that obesity leads to global warming.
So what do they suggest we do? Use Stalin like tactics to get people thinner?
Nevermind the fact that atheletes eat twice as much and ride in planes daily. Nevermind the politicians who ride in planes and drive around in motorcades, or the business man who has eetings between SF and New York, or the work-outaholics who eat and eat and eat, but use the gym to shed the weight using electricty to run their lifecycle, or the sales rep who flys once to twice a month... etc. No, no, no, it is the fat people... only. All this and we still don't even know whether global warming is even an issue. But the article has concluded that global warming is real and fat people are part of the problem.

I love his comment on the term "progress".
