Religion And Politics Don't Mix...Unless You Are A Democrat

A Democrat convention is being held in my new back yard.

Be careful. The event has a lot to do with trying to get voters, and very little to do with religion. Don't forget the claims our Republican president made about being chosen by God and being "born again" and his mentions of praying and salutations of "God Bless."

OK, OK, Arvin we all know Bush is extremely religious, but linking to some obvious anti-Bush page that claims Bush found rapture through cocaine is not going to help you make your point. Secondly, I don't mind parties trying to recruit religious people. I mean they are voters too, but after hearing what the majority of Kerry supporters said about religious people who voted for Bush, I am afraid it is going to be seen as pandering.

Is there going to be a time where the left's voice is independent and original and not trying to play catch up with the Right by immitating their platform?

The one article is farce but it did help. Now your true feelings and thoughts on the subject have come out succinctly and logically. I was unimpressed and disappointed with the obviously biased and untrue title of the original post. You are smarter than that and I won't let you sink to the level of the slanted MSM and their tactics.

Pandering is what politicians do to get voters that they normally wouldn't get. It's political strategy, it's cheap and I don't like it but no different than Napoleon and Pedro passing out lanyards. It should be expected.

Do you think the Democrats can recruit Religious people through gritted teeth?

It's in their best interest to. But let's talk about the target audience, the religious people. Faith likely has stronger roots than most political convictions. Once reasoning revolves around a god or gods, and faith therein is established, a believer has little justification for going against what the religion dictates.

I guess I just don't think many of the liberal values fit in with America's popular religions. It seems like a very difficult task.

But if they want to win elections, taking votes from the right and putting them on the left is how it's done.

I'm reading through Ann Coulter's book: "How To Talk To A Liberal, If Have To"

I like her points in this article:
