It pains me to admit it, but we as Americans are lackadaisical sports fans. Maybe it's our society's overindulgence. Perhaps we spread ourselves too thin with pop culture and internet porn. Maybe it's that we have no culture or true sense of ourselves. Whatever it is, it must be addressed. Until the day I see a
flaming portapotty hurled from atop the Western Metal Building into left field at Petco Park, I am ashamed to call myself a sports fan.

What's the big deal?
Notice that the fans are in the "end zone" of the stadium. Each end of the stadium is reserved for the nut-ball fans for each team. The end zone fans on each end are yelling to the fans on the other end. This is how it goes at soccer games outside the US. Fire, smoke, yelling, violence. Its all pretty normal. Its pretty much understood that this is normal action if you seek seating at either end of the stadium.
The midfield seats are pretty normal by comparison. Pretty much like any football event here in the US.
Fire in crowds of people at sporting events should never be deemed "normal"...
Yeah, it certainly is "normal." Except, of course, where it's not.
