There are a lot of reasons why, but I'll only focus on one in this post. I'm blatantly ripping off Greg Gutfeld on this one.
Its more about who didn't get the prize so that Gore's head, his girth, and his investment portfolio could grow larger. Its about who didn't get the prize so that this award could promote a political agenda.
Do a search for Irena Sendler and see who got passed over for Garotzuva. She fits the description of someone who should win a "peace" prize. But maybe its better they didn't award a "peace" price to her since the same Nobel people gave the award to Yasser Arafat.

Most people don't know who Irena Sendler is and the peace prize had to go to someone recognizable, otherwise people wouldn't pay attention. In otherwords, it isn't just Gore's fat head that is getting inflated, but the prize itself.
In the end, both are still meaningless, so the prize appears to have gone to the right person.
Dude, look at the list of winners over the years. Quite a few you've never heard of.
