If you watch the video footage, not selected stills, he actually pats the brunette on the lower back with the back of his hand well above her butt. It's still funny but not exactly the way the press is spinning it. Anyway, I was at SFO for a red-eye to New York when the Men's 400 freestyle relay was won and I swear, in that moment, the whole airport cheered. Really though, it was an amazing instant to be surrounded by strangers, maybe not even from the U.S., all cheering the comeback at an overpriced pub-grub-slinging greasy spoon at San Fransicso International in the middle of the night...
