Has 2012 Always Been The Year Of Reckoning?

Seriously, is that just the newest "end of life as we know it" number or has it always been that? I feel like it has changed so many times over the years, but I could be wrong. It may have always been 2012.

It is armageddon week on the history channel this week and believe me, it's no coincidence they are airing end of the world type shows during the 1st week of the new year.
You know, right after everyone has just made all their new year's resolutions and are looking to a brighter and better future...Bam! We all die in 2012!

Anyway, bird-flu is back on the list of things to worry about.

UPDATE: Galactic collision will happen sooner than scientists thought!!! a billion years into the future
