Overpopulation In China By "Wee Fuckem Yung"

I saw this article yesterday and I couldn't post it, but his views have been circulating the radio and the web and I just can't ignore it anymore. Read about this psycho.

Look, I can't change anybodies minds about the so called "Overpopulation Crisis." As far as I am concerned, there is no crisis. There is just no evidence that supports it. In fact, countries with positive population growths do better than countries with population in decline. This sort of statement however falls on deaf ears to the converted. So I will leave you with this.

If you took all the people in the world, which is about 7 billion and you grouped them up into families of four, gave them each a 1/4 acre. You could fit every family into a state the size of Texas. After that, turn the rest of the world into a Safari Getaway for all I care.

I've always heard its over crowding, not over population, that is the real issue.

Yes overcrowding, traffic jams, all that... that is an acceptable complaint, but the fear has evolved.

If these people are so concerned with the population size, then they should lead by example and kill themselves. I wouldn't argue.

Of course you wouldn't, nobody would. The mad scientist would be glad to do it, he already has his obituary on his website.

What's with the 2nd or 3rd hand article anyway? And the hint at conspiracy by having the cameras turned off during his speech? This doesn't sound like you Blogust...

I wonder how many people in the audience assume they would make the top 10%? As far as praising China, there is a good chance we will institute some similar population control when we flip the population meter, but we are behind them by about 1,000,000,000, so let's not freak out just yet.

I wonder what his wife thinks? Scratch that. I wonder what his cats think?

Actually, I was just trying to make a point and I used this article to do it. I have heard some extreme views from people in the past, mostly during my classes in Sociology, regarding overpopulation and parenting and those arguments have stayed with me. Mostly because these views bothered me so much. Some people suggested that the govt. should determine how many children a family is allowed to have while others suggested that parents should get a liscense before they are even allowed to breed. In my opinion, both of these views violate the core value of personal choice and freedom and to suggest that people should be allowed to tell there neighbors how to raise their family is sad.

Arvin- You are right. This was a little 2nd hand. Here is one from Associated Press. It is a little nicer to this Prof. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/4/4/110456.shtml?s=ic

I think it is hard to disagree that there is an overcrowding and/or overpopulation problem in the world. This guy probably hopes for a disease to wipe most of us out, because it would be the only naturally means and then no one would have to feel guilty down the road. Except, of course the scientists and various government agencies that would be sued by the remaining 10% of the population for not doing anything to stand in the way of the epidemic, or pandemic if you want to sound really "in the know." Which leads me to an idea. Off the lawyers. Not only does that lower the population, but it would also open the door for us to start taking our lives into our own hands and making bad decisions. Screw seatbelts and motorcycle helmuts, get me some trans fats stat! Of course, this is more of a nationwide solution than a global solution, but when have I ever pretended to even see the big picture, let alone care.

That is it. Can we actually say that overpopulation is a problem or is it just doom and gloom. The evidence points to the opposite. Globally, people have a better standard of living today and are better fed than in the past.
