I currently have to deal with two HOAs. Supposedly they serve to keep property values up, which I guess they do, but I see them also as just another Facist organization that takes yet more money from home owners based on 1000 page long documents you get when you buy a propery in such an area.
In regards to signs:
There are limits to signs, sure, and I think its best left to some sort of decision making body. But I also believe those limits depend on the timing of the sign. Easter bunnies during easter, supportive signs for those fighting in foreign lands during a time of war, nativity scenes during Christmas, etc. seem like they should have leeway when it comes to HOA rules.
Thing is, this HOA said "any" sign so they would not have to then make a judgement call, I'm sure.
Oh the fun of living in pre-planned communities....
I believe that "Fuck the army!" would probably be meant to be a bit more inciteful thatn "Support Our Troops," so I admit I would probably be less vocal in my defense of that sentiment. Honestly, I don't even know why I respond to this sort of argument.
