Hmmm, I couldn't get the tone of that last post, MC. Was he being smug? Honest?
Don't know.
Anyway, I think it appropriate that Dawkins interviewed with Cocker, the singer of Pulp, because Dawkins comments sure did remind me of the video below.

Video Friday
This link is from my friend Don. He and his son went out for dinner and hilarity ensues. It's all explained in the link. I think its pretty dang funny.
So...
The local radio station played this on my way to work. And on an entirely unrelated note, I got something in my eye on the way to work.

Le Chant des Oiseaux
I'm posting this because it has some personal value to me. About 14 years ago I was in a choir for Mesa college and we performed this song at a 3 day Christmas festival in a church across the street from Balboa park in San Diego. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. My whole family was there (except my lousy brother)
And so this is for Comrade. We were pretty good and we might have sounded something like this, but then again, maybe not.
I sang bass vocals with two others.

There's a web site in Sweden that hosts bit torrent downloads. If you don't know what a bit torrent is, don't worry. The key here is that bit torrents usually get used to host pirated software.

Here We Go.
Someone is offended by Christianity, better ban it. This is from sports columnist Peter King's mailbag column today regarding 49ers head coach Mike Singletary's sideline attire:
"• RELIGION AND FOOTBALL. From Steve, of Hopkinton, Mass.: "Watching the Miami-San Francisco game Sunday, I was surprised to see Mike Singletary's attire. I know sweatshirts are approved (as long as they are made by Reebok) but the huge cross around his neck? I know this is a man expressing his deep beliefs but is this the acceptable standard? What is someone wants to display some other item reflecting his personal beliefs?''
Good question. The league tells me Singletary's personal jewelry is not an issue (he's been wearing the cross throughout his coaching career) and I'd be surprised if they told him to tone it down. I think the only way they'd meddle with religious crosses is if they obscured the logos on the sideline clothing. Don't laugh."
It's not a good question and I'm not laughing. I see what the person is doing here, trying to equate the Cross with a swastika, hangman's noose or other hate symbol in order to justify banning it's appearance on the sideline. Or maybe the person is a vampire. I doubt they'd be so critical of a rainbow.

The Cult Of Garotzuva
Like with many cult leaders, Al Gore has picked the moment of rapture for global warmists.
5 Years from now, Al Gore says, the entire North Pole will disappear.
And I'm glad we have him on record.
As far as I am concerned one of two things will happen.
1.) The North Pole melts and Al Gore becomes a prophet. I will eat crow and the world begins a massive global effort to stop global warming. (more so than it is doing today)
2.) The North Pole doesn't melt and cult followers will listen to Al Gore anyway, just like cult followers always do and a new day of rapture is predicted.
But wait, there is a third option. One that can't be ignored.
3.) Obama heals the planet.
AP has titled a recent piece Obama left with little time to curb global warming
Perfect!
All the stars are aligned. We have Gore on record, the world is in a panic and a day of judgment that follows shortly after Obama's 1st term. When the North Pole doesn't melt, Obama can raise his palms to heaven, snap his fingers and say abra cadabra, and then we truly can call him the Messiah.

Bettie Page: RIP
Bettie Page dies of a heart attack at age 85.
I'm not the biggest Bettie Page fan out there, but I do like the style that surrounds her image. (and the picture above is pretty great)
In many ways Bettie Page represents the innocence of yesterday. Innocent smut, so to speak and what was once considered risque is now plain old pop art. (oh the irony)
Have we taken it too far? I say we have, but I also say we can turn back.
I read a pretty cool quote while looking into this story.
"Gluttony satiates but does not satisfy."
Hmmmmm... I like it.
Anyway, maybe I'll talk more about that some other day.

If you are interested to see what she looked like at age 80 here you go.

Despite what the media tells you, the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas has the FEWEST number of suicides than any other time of the year.
Yet "stories linking suicides and the holidays during the 2005-2006 end-of-year season represented about 57 percent of the articles written."
Turns out that Spring and Fall have the highest rates.

NY School Renamed "Barack Obama" By Students
"District officials believe the school is the first in the country to be named for Obama. But even though Obama will not take office until January 20, many other efforts to rename schools, parks and streets to mark his historic win are already underway. Winston Baldwin Spencer, the prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda, a country in the Caribbean, says he is taking steps to have Antigua's highest mountain peak renamed Mount Obama. And many parents around the world have named their newborns Barack."

Third Time Is The Charm
Obama may be yet again distancing himself from a questionable character. If this is true, then it would be the third time (fourth if you include Rezko, but I don't know of any real connection) that an associate got into hot water and Obama then denounced him.
1.) "I wasn't there" and "I didn't know" and "I didn't hear him say it," Obama words when speaking about Reverend Wright
2.) "just a guy who lives in my neighborhood" What he said about William Ayers
3.) "I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening." What Obama said recently concerning Governor Blagojevich.
Axelrod, Obama's campaign advisor, disagrees.
"I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

Gay Marriage?
If any of you haven't guessed yet, I am not for gay marriage. At least I am not for defining the word marriage to mean anything other than one man one woman.
Civil unions? have at it.
Having the same rights as a married couple? you bet.
a ceremony to honor the union? sure.
But the word marriage? no way. (to be clear, if California voted 'no' on prop. 8 I would have not liked it, but I would have accepted it)
Look, words carry weight. They have meaning and the idea of a heterosexual marriage falling under the same banner as a homosexual union is, well, wrong.
They aren't the same. They are different and though the law and the govt. shouldn't treat homosexual union and marriage differently, our vocabulary should. (except for adoption. Don't agree with gay adoption either)
For example, there are people who try to tell us that boys and girls are the same. That society has forced boys to follow one form of gender rolls and girls to follow another.
If we raised boys, they argue, in taditional girl gender rolls, like buying them a teaset, then the boys would grow up to be more feminine.
Same with girls. Buy them g.i.joes, tomboys.
But they were wrong. Boys were unhappy with teasets, unless they were breaking 'em and girls were dressing up their g.i.joes for teaparties.
Why? Because they are different.
Programmed different.
Think different.
And polite society treats them different.
Therefore, we have different words assigned to each different sex and though the govt. recognizes their equality of rights under the law, our vocabulary recognizes their differences in life under natural law and that is the way it should be.
And that is the way it should be with marriage as well.
So says I.

I Agree!
They should give $130 billion to poor countries to fight Garotzuva! Poor countries have such an outstanding track record of making sure handouts make it into the right hands to make a positive impact. I could use a few million myself. You know, I'm kind of the king of my block.

Of course, the sex offender registry in it's current incarnation is some of the most effed up shite going. Don't get me wrong, I don't think 23 year old student teachers should be boning high school freshmen, but it's probably not a one strike and you're out kind of offense. And having consensual sex in a park? Please.

Melting Ice May Slow Global Warming
According to this, the earth may be healing itself.
"Scientists discover that minerals found in collapsing ice sheets could feed plankton and cut C02 emissions."
Just in time too. Now that Obama is President-elect, the earth will heal, meadows will flower and the world will come together to sing Kumbaya.
Of course I'm not suggesting that Professor Rob Raiswell came to his conclusion because of the Obama win, but I do wonder whether chicken littles will begin to listen to other theories now that "hope" is in the air.

Palm Pistol
For the elderly.
I would say something about this, but I think this quote says it all.
"You "pull" the trigger by pressing on a thumbed button at the top.
"Point and shoot couldn't be easier," states the blurb on the product's Web site.
Even better, Constitution Arms says it's had it certified by the FDA as a "Class I Medical Device." That means doctors could prescribe the handgun to qualified patients, who would then have some or all of the cost reimbursed by Medicare or private insurance."
Palm pistol is just what the doctor ordered.

Obama has speechwriter? Not that I'm surprised, but how often did we hear about Palin being too stupid and needed a speechwriter? A million?
But the most interesting part about this is, look at him. It's A White Guy!
Most likely an "anglo-saxon protestant male" white guy . The devil of all devils amongst liberal hate.

Oh, and here is a bit of interesting news.

Read it here.

"A speech in Baghdad would appear to validate the Iraq war, which Obama opposed."
Oh I see. It's important to mend rifts in the Muslim world, but less important to mend rifts amongst your own countrymen, or for a war that Americans sacrificed their lives for.

I Fear We'll Miss The Punisher
Susan Rice a "Mind-Boggling" Candidate for U.N. Ambassador
Okay, Obama is a shithead again.
"A Rhodes scholar, 44-year-old Rice was an aide to Richard Clarke at the National Security Council in the 1990s, and was considered a “radical liberal” who favored the use of lightly armed U.N. troops as peacekeepers, said the insider, who provided this background on the nominee:
Rice and Clarke wrote “Presidential Decision Directive 25” (PDD-25), a controversial Clinton policy document that urged the use of U.N. peacekeepers as surrogates for real military forces in the mistaken belief that warring parties would respect and not fire on lightly armed U.N. forces wearing blue helmets."
"While working for Clarke, Rice supported the “unconscionable” 1994 Clinton administration decision to prevent the U.N. from taking action against the impending genocide in Rwanda that killed more than 800,000 people, the insider said."
Craptastic Christmas Ornament
Figurines known as “caganer” of U.S. President-elect Barack Obama are sold at the Santa Llucia Christmas market in central Barcelona December 1, 2008. Catalans hide “caganers”, or defecators, in Christmas Nativity scenes then invite friends to hunt for them during Christmas celebrations. The “caganers”, which symbolise defecating and fertilizing the earth, are believed to bring prosperity and luck for the coming year.

And Paul wrote, "Everything created by God is good, and all food is lawful."
That's in the bible!
I don't think they realize that there are many people who voted yes on prop. 8 and who are not at all religious.
It only makes sense. Anytime these people (when I say "these people" I don't mean fags...err... homosexuals. I mean liberals.) don't get what they want they blame religion.
(Okay, not everytime, but alot!)
A sidenote, if prop. 8 had gone down I would not have protested.
That's because I'm lazy, I mean, that's because I cherish the will of the people.
Aren't I awesome?

A Liberal Making Sense
Very good read
"After all, if 10 young Indians from a splinter wing of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party traveled by boat to Pakistan, shot up two hotels in Karachi and the central train station, killed at least 173 people, and then, for good measure, murdered the imam and his wife at a Saudi-financed mosque while they were cradling their 2-year-old son — purely because they were Sunni Muslims — where would we be today? The entire Muslim world would be aflame and in the streets."
"Sure, better intelligence is important. And, yes, better SWAT teams are critical to defeating the perpetrators quickly before they can do much damage. But at the end of the day, terrorists often are just acting on what they sense the majority really wants but doesn’t dare do or say. That is why the most powerful deterrent to their behavior is when the community (the muslim community) as a whole says: “No more. What you have done in murdering defenseless men, women and children has brought shame on us and on you.”"
When liberals start talking like this it makes me wonder if the Obama win has anything to do with it. Obama is president elect now and islamo crazies are still killing people, but not just in Israel or western countries.
This time in India. (actually they have been attacking India for quite sometime, but nothing spectacular enough to make the front page.)
So what's the deal?
Are they finally realizing the threat of islamofascism, or are they so invested in a successful Obama presidency that they are now willing to stand and be heard?

Ziegler Update
Remember this?
Zogby ran the same questions, but this time with McCain voters. The results are below.
35 % of McCain voters got 10 or more of 13 questions correct.
18% of Obama voters got 10 or more of 13 questions correct.
McCain voters knew which party controls congress by a 63-27 margin.
Obama voters got the “congressional control” question wrong by 43-41.
Those that got “congressional control” correct voted 56-43 for McCain.
Those that got “congressional control” wrong voted 65-35 for Obama.
Who cares, right?
I wonder how many of each watch Foxnews.

US Develops Tiny Flying Robots
(Not the actual robot. Stole this photo from insect labs)
"The way we envision it is, there would be a bunch of these sent out in a swarm,"
"If we know there's a possibility of bad guys in a certain building, how do we find out? We think this would fill that void."
I know all this seems very "Big Brother", but I think it is kinda cool.
Today's Unicorn...

The Day's Annoying Post
NYTimes paves the way for Obama and the Dems to receive full credit for Iraq victory. Expect this argument to be on lips of all Dems in the near future.
Some tasty morsels for you just so you know what you are getting yourself into.
"In 2003, the United States, under President Bush, invaded Iraq to change the regime. Terrible postwar execution and unrelenting attempts by Al Qaeda to provoke a Sunni-Shiite civil war turned the Iraqi geopolitical space into a different problem — a maelstrom of violence for four years, with U.S. troops caught in the middle. A huge price was paid by Iraqis and Americans. This was the Iraq that Barack Obama ran against."
"There is now, for the first time, a chance — still only a chance — that a reasonably stable democratizing government, though no doubt corrupt in places, can take root in the Iraqi political space."
"That is the Iraq that Obama is inheriting. It is an Iraq where we have to begin drawing down our troops — because the occupation has gone on too long and because we have now committed to do so by treaty — but it is also an Iraq that has the potential to eventually tilt the Arab-Muslim world in a different direction."
"If he (Obama) can pull this off, and help that decent Iraq take root, Obama and the Democrats could not only end the Iraq war but salvage something positive from it. Nothing would do more to enhance the Democratic Party’s national security credentials than that."
Annoying, isn't it?
Iraq IS a success for one reason. The U.S. never quit.
The Dems cannot take credit for that.

Rainbow Fisting
Whether they are gay or just plain enlightened, liberals will proudly wear this Rainbow Fist t-shirt of solidarity. The fight against "Proposition H8" will give cause again to somewhat pointless lives and to a liberal, that is a gift that keeps on giving.
Don't embarrass your liberal friends or show them how out of touch you are by buying them a Che t-shirt or a Black Panther Fist t-shirt (though the Cobra Kai Fist t-shirt from the Karate Kid is pretty tits). This year, don't be an out-of-touch Republican. This year, you should stay ahead of the curve. Being current is very important to the Borg for it helps them to assimilate your uniqueness into their collective, as well as, help them to attract other Borg mates.
They are smarter than you.
Just accept it.

Villagers Kill Male Babies to Prevent War
Read it here.
I got such a kick out of this quote, I had to post it.
"The report sympathetically portrays these women as desperate hut wives who, faced with tribal extinction, are forced to take extreme measures in order to survive. One wonders how sympathetic the writers of this story would be if the men of the tribe killed all of the female babies to prevent them from growing up and committing male infanticide."

Obama Will Be The President Of Change
But I don't think people understood that what he meant was "change" his mind.
Recently Obama appointed Volcker, who worked in the fed. during the Reagan revolution, as his economic advisor and has named Gates to stay on as secretary of defense. (which means we aren't leaving Iraq anytime soon.)
It appears Obama is more pragamatic than idealistic.
Therefore, the steps Obama took during his life (Wright, Ayers, memoirs, etc.), points more to political expediency than to a philosophy.
Which is fine by me.
To quote Glenn Reynolds - “Leaving the Bush tax cuts alone. Putting Iraq-war supporters in as Vice President and Secretary of State. And now keeping Bush’s Defense Secretary on. I’m beginning to feel like I won this election!”
See what the Politico has to say.
Here is a statement made by team Obama condemning the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.
Karl Rove jumps on the Obama bandwagon...somewhat.

“President-Elect Obama strongly condemns today’s terrorist attacks in Mumbai, and his thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of India. These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks. We stand with the people of India, whose democracy will prove far more resilient than the hateful ideology that led to these attacks.”Doesn't that statement sound like something Bush would say?

Wednesday Video
To start off I am posting this video for all of those who look at Thanksgiving as a time for mourning.
For the rest of us Thanksgiving is time to remember our families and our proud American heritage. The amount of generosity and goodness that comes from this nation has never seen it's equal. I think we all should be thankful for that.
For those of you who can't seem to get beyond the crimes of our past and the persecution of the Noble Savage, remember this, the majority of the Indians were sadly lost to an invisible killer shortly after first contact. Well before people even knew what a microbe was, or that Indians were so defenseless to them.
"The exhibit points out that disease was the chief cause of suffering after European contact. Therefore, the horrors that beset The Ancient Americas following 1492 would have happened if the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa MarÃa had been manned by Jimmy Carter, the Dalai Lama, and Bono." - O'Rourke
Also, as Medved reminds us, how many people do you know who is 1/4 or 1/8 or even 1/32 indian? Countless? The settlers didn't kill the Indians, they slept with them. (Or did the indians sleep with the settlers? I get that confused.) :)
Don't let guilt get in the way of your Holiday.

Hey Moe, Aint Democracy A Bitch
Will have to wait and see where this leads.
(Moe Chavez) "In power for almost a decade, the popular anti-U.S. president won 17 of 22 states, but the opposition held onto the two states it won at the last regional elections four years ago, picked up three more and won the powerful mayoralty of the capital Caracas."
"(Opposition) winning six top posts that govern over almost half of the population,.."
Though I often lose faith in the average voter, things like this remind me why the people ultimately should have the right to decide.
"democracy is the worst form of Government except all those others" - W. Churchill
We are going to need the people Venezuela to stand up even more in the future. Read this
"Russian warships arrived off Venezuela's coast Tuesday in a show of strength aimed at the United States as Moscow seeks to expand its influence in Latin America. "

What Does $315 Billion Look Like?
(Step 2: Now take 360,000 dollar bills and lay it as such, but I'm sure most of you couldn't get past step one so go here and watch the money grow)
Who knows how accurate all that is, but it sure does look cool.

Here are a few that would do it for me.
Cher - Believe
The Beatles - Yellow Submarine
Almost all rap music

11/22/08 V.I. Day
Zombietime is calling for people to declare this day to be Victory In Iraq Day.
Why? Mostly because we can't wait for the media or the incoming or outgoing administrations to do it.
"An announcement from the outgoing Bush administration? It's not gonna happen. An announcement from the incoming Obama administration? That's really not gonna happen. A declaration of victory by the media? Please. Don't make me laugh. A concession of surrender by what few remaining insurgents remain in hiding? Forget about it.
And since there will never be a ticker-tape parade down Fifth Avenue in New York for our troops, it's up to us, the people, to arrange a virtual ticker-tape parade. An online victory celebration. "
Okay, I'll bite. Here is my on-line victory celebration.
YAY! HOORAY! YIPPIE! LET'S GO GET DRUNK!
Wait, I quit drinking.
Okay then, LET'S GO SNIFF GLUE!
Also, I thank the troops for their courage and sacrifice
UPDATE: Check us out. We're on the list of participating blogs on Zombietime. We're in the big times now.

This is what would have happened if Obama lost the election.
Judging by the reaction of the girl in orange she secretly was a David Cook fan but didn't have the courage to tell her friends. She will most likely become a Republican.

The Challenged Vote Test
More like challenged voters, but I digress. Its an interesting test to take.
This Changes Everything.
I don't know if I can watch a new Star Trek Movie if Shatner is not behind it.
Oh, and here's a version of the trailer that's about ten thousand times better than the cell phone cam pirate job Blogust posted earlier.
Looks good, except someone tell me how the part with Kirk as a kid driving the car off of the cliff can end up being anything other than ridiculously cheesy. That monster looks pretty boss, though. I hope he defeats it by fashioning some sort of rudimentary lathe.

Suffrage = Suffering
Ladies from the view compare the word "suffrage", the right to vote, to the word "suffering".
Okay fine, not everyone knows the definition of suffrage. Not unusual, but of the four I think Whoopie and Shamu should have at least known since they are both black, both women and both Know-it-alls.

Now watch one of my favorite clips from the Man Show.

"Global warming is a hoax" a conspiracy theory on par with 9/11 now. Well played, ya crazy bastards!
Finally, We Can Move On.
Now that Obama has been elected, the media need only spend about 80% of their airtime talking about him, freeing up the other 20% for other important stories. On my way to work today, during a 60 second commercial spot, the local news ran two ads. One was for a special look at how climate change threatens our future, especially our children (not making that up). The other was how online video games exploit and expose our children. I wonder how many children were abucted, raped and/or murdered while the media focused on it's Obama campaign. Halloween candy deaths must have been through the roof! Well, sacrifices must be made, I suppose.

Coke Kills Rainforest
I am only posting this because of this quote here
"These people, who have good jobs and drive a hybrid car or cycle to work because they care about the environment, may go to party and do some lines of coke and they are thinking it is no problem," Francisco Santos told The Associated Press Tuesday. "They are absolutely unaware of the ecological impact of their drug taking and we want to change that."

The Obligatory "Man Screws Everything Up" Post
At first I was buying the idea that people forced a newly discovered penguin species to extinction, but when the only scientist quoted in the article (a scientist who was not at all involved in the research) says,
"It is becoming apparent that some species can respond to things like climate change, and others cannot."
my eyes glazed over and I farted.
Read it yourself.

Here Is A Fun Game
Check out this video and watch how your blood pressure rises.
Pretty harmless at first, but it gets good as it goes.
Was this the media's fault or was it just an example of people only tuning to info they want to hear?
I wished they tested McCain voters as well, but eh...
I am sure McCain voters would have been able to answer such questions as who has a pregnant daughter, who said they could see Russia from their house (though Tina Fey said it I am still giving it to Palin.), who is William Ayers and who called to redistribute wealth. Of course I don't know for certain, but I think they could have answered those.
Then again, maybe not. I don't know. If they watched Fox news then they could.
Go to this site, where I ripped off this video, and check out a very interesting Zogby Poll.

Just A Heads Up
Heard two reviews about the new Bond movie and both of em says it sucks.
One says the movie is filmed using Michael J. Fox cam (like they did in the Bourne movies)
And the other says it is big time lefty movie.
Too bad, but I am going heed the warning and save my money for this instead.
Check out the preview for this so called "Swedish Gem"

Just received this drivel from a friend.
This line is gold:
3. Increase food stamp benefits so low-income Americans can afford high quality organic foods. One way to do this would be to double the value of food stamp debit cards for fresh food purchased from farmers markets.
Why don't you just charge less, you money grubbing, whole foods shopping nut case?

Is this the product of the single pay system? Has the British healthcare system bred apathy or is this an isolated case?

Arrrrgggghhhh!
Now that Obama has been elected, look how the Chicago Tribune is reporting the Iraq war.
"Today’s bombings in Iraq which left dozens dead is a stark and horrible reminder that, while violence has dropped significantly there as a result of the U.S. military’s surge, that country is still very dangerous.
It’s a measure of progress that today’s blasts, which killed at least 31 people in Baghdad and more elsewhere, according to the Associated Press, represented the worst day of violence since June. Less than two years ago such a time gap in major attacks was unheard of.
But it’s also true that the continuing violence indicates how difficult the challenge will be for President-elect Barack Obama. "

Its Hitting The Fan, And He's Not Even In Office
I don't understand anyone that states "lets give him a chance, maybe he's going to better than we expect". The fact that you don't expect much should be what scares you.
Case In Point.
McCain ran a MUCH more transparent campaign. Obama's was full of eyebrow raising instances. Yet who get audited because he used public funds? McCain.
No one will ever use public funds again. This ridiculous action by the FEC has made it so that no one in their right mind will use public funds. So much for any sort of accountability.
"I'm not going to use public funds so that I don't put undue stress on the people." has become "I want to cheat the hell out of this system, suckers."

$475 Million For What?
I must preface this discussion with the fact that, for years, I've thought space program spending is useless. Its a waste of money. Who cares about Mars? Really. In my world the budget cuts would start with NASA.
Did we really need to go to the moon over and over?
Latest case in point: this fiasco. $475 million to send a robot into space that tells us pretty much everything we already know about the red planet? I'm so confused. And it was planned that it would die after 5 months????

Michael Steele And Newt Gingrich Battle For RNC Chair
Either one is fine by me, but I think I like Newt better.
UPDATE: Steele might receive Gingrich's endorsement
Horny Tuesday
Couple arrested for 'having sex' on crowded train
By the way, who came up with word "horny" anyway. It is a terrible sounding word. Hell I'm embarrassed to write it.
UPDATE: Foreplay is overrated, researchers claim. But intercourse has to last for an average of 16.2 minutes if you want to seal the deal.

The more things change the more they stay the same
I usually am an innocent bystander on this web site, but do to recent events, maybe I will take a more active role. When I say recent events, I don't mean the election, but rather the love fest for George Bush and the Republicans on this site. I am a die in the wool no-government, free-market capitalist. Does that make me Republican? Based on how they behaved in the past 10 years, probably not. Yes, George Bush actually did something when it came to Iraq and Afghanistan. But are Republicans judged based on how they do in foreign affairs? Hopefully not. Hopefully they are judged based on the one core value EVERY Republicans claim to promote which is smaller government. If that is the sole criteria, then the Republicans scored a big F-. Read this nice article from Reason and tell me it does not ring true to you now that the election is over.
Does anyone have a Political Philosophy?
This is an interesting read from the CS Monitor. To sum up, it basically states that Republicans feel their party has been hijacked by big-spending, big government politicians and that Obama won the election because he promised lower tax cuts and an Audit of all Federal Agencies. It is basically up to the Republicans to reinvent themselves. WHAT? First, to have the Republicans admit publicly that they wasted their opportunity and resorted to pork barrel projects and big government is surprising. If they admit to it then it happened. Second, does either party have a core philosophy they follow? Are we looking for voters or are we trying to enact our political ideals? Basically, these are all symptoms to an overall problem. We think our party is supporting our beliefs, but as they said so themselves, they are not. So how do we fix this?

I don't know why I am posting this. Maybe I just felt like REALLY irritating MC. BTW, I still have no idea what she is talking about.

That's Some Good Kool-Aid.
Don't read this. I'm begging you not to read this. I don't know what will happen. You might go blank with violent fury. You might hurl yourself into traffic. At the very least you will barf for an hour straight. Don't ask me how I got through the whole thing without rooting a pencil into my ear canal or crushing my eyeballs into my brain with my thumbs. You've been warned.
Farrelly Bros. To Tackle Three Stooges
So many reasons why this will go very wrong.
Hey Farrelly Bros., you can't redo The Three Stooges. It isn't yours to redo. It's like Steve Martin bringing back The Pink Panther. Or when Tim Burton redid Willy Wonka and created that piece of trash, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. (Which so happens to be Maximum Colossus' favorite movie BTW) Bad idea!
I don't know. Anyone optimistic?

I Am Going To Barf
If I know any of you as well as I think I do then I know this will make you sick.
It is a post called "from 52 to 48 with love" and it appears to be some sort of internet olive branch. Check it out. You'll get the point.
What makes me mad the most is that we will have to take this peace offering. That is who we are, but I wish the post was a little more honest.
Stuff like "I'm sorry I was a crazy fucking lunatic for the past 8 years. That was really rude of me. And all those times I called you warmongers and burned the flag and spit on George Bush, well that was way out of line. I am lib, what can I say. I think in emotional terms and sometimes I can't control them. Anyway, I hope you all forgive us and I hope that you don't follow our bad example and bash our new president without mercy." That would have been better.
I stole this from Ace of Spades. Make sure you read his post. He did a far better job summing up his frustration than I did.
p.s. If you noticed, the post is designed to make it seem that both 52 and 48 came together in a mutual effort of solidarity. I am sorry, but I am not buying it. I assume the idea was hatched and created primarily by lefties. Oh well, like I said, we'll have to take it.

I Wish...
...someone would do a study on autism rates in countries without research grants. Or pharmaceutical companies. Or lawyers.
Hello Mr. Kennedy, Errr..., Obama
I've been saying this for months. Obama's presidency will be a mix of JFK and Carter. Talk about a disaster.
I spent a whole semester studying the the Cuban missile crisis in my AP history class my senior year in high school. Yeah, I was/am a geek that way. Russia, our main enemy at the time, wanted to test a young, inexperienced president. And they did, and the result was the Cuban missile crisis, the bay of pigs disaster, and the Berlin wall.
A similar version is going to happen again, folks. More here. Barry 0's (yes that's a zero) consistency on wanting to offer group hugs instead of pointed spears has been heard by our enemies. They will start stepping up.
As this kind of stuff ramps up, Barry 0's attention will turn to foreign affairs. This will require him to give less time to his spreading the wealth, health care, carbon taxing, etc. He will be forced to defend freedom, or give up and let our enemies run all over him while he focuses on domestic issues instead.
If he does not defend freedom, people at home will be angry. If he does not follow through on his whole hope/change/yes-we-can mantra, people at home will be angry.
The honeymoon will be short. I'm going to keep saying it.
And heck, I'll throw this in here too. A bit long, but a great read. Not really related to the post topic either, but eh...

Yes On Prop. 8
John Cloud gives his take on why prop. 8 was passed in Calleeforneeya. (ala Arnold)
on the one hand he says
"hopes that in an Obama America, straight people would be willing to let gay people have the basic right to equality in their personal relationships. It appears not."
and on the other hand he says
"Part of the reason is that Obama inspired unprecedented numbers of African Americans to vote. Polls show that black voters are more likely to attend church than whites and less likely to be comfortable with equality for gay people."
Hmmmm... Very interesting, but I think he is wrong and a dummy. Prop. 8 passed 52.2% to 47.8% during this election, but only eight years ago, prop. 22 passed with a much higher percentage. 61% of the state voted to ban same sex marriage then, which means a higher percentage of voters voted for Gay marriage rights this time around than ever before. (I think ever before. How many times has this issue been on the ballot?) How does Mr. Cloud explain that? He doesn't.
The worst part about this article is that while he seems to toy with idea that blacks are to blame at first, the last three lines he solidifies it.
"The entire New York legislature is now in Democratic hands, and New York's governor, David Paterson, is one of the nation's most eloquent pro-marriage-equality representatives. He is also, by the way, African American. Perhaps he can help bridge the gap between gays and blacks that widened on Nov. 4."
Therefore, you people who voted yes on 8, don't worry about feeling guilty. It was the black christians fault.
